Belgian Hot Chocolate
3 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tsp. cornstarch
8 oz. milk chocolate, chopped
2 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 cinnamon stick, halved
Pinch salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
Whipped cream, grated chocolate, and cookies (like the perioline (sp))
In large pot, whisk together milk, heavy cream and cornstarch until cornstarch is dissolved and mixture is smooth; stir in milk and unsweetened chocolates, cinnamon stick and salt. Cook over medium low heat, whisking until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth and hot. Remove cinnamon stick; stir in vanilla. If desired, serve topped with whipped cream, chocolate and cookies. Makes 8 servings.
